Automotive and Battery Test Series - ERS

ERS 50kW-200kW

The ERS system is a bi-directional high performance power supplies with grid tied energy recovery.  Energy storage components and systems can be exercised and monitored to determine their performance with the minimum energy usage.  The system is especially suited to simulating drive profiles from electric vehicles of any kind.  The output of the ERS can be programmed using its CANBus interface or analogue inputs making it easy to simulate complex scenarios.

The system can also be used as a battery simulator.  By regulating the voltage, current and or internal resistance Lithium Ion, NiMH or Lead Acid battery systems can be simulated.  This allows inverters, motors and control systems to be tested in isolation without the need to recharge or maintain a fleet of test batteries.

Applications:

  • Vehicle energy systems in the hybrid sector
  • Testing of electric drive machines
  • Battery simulation (emulation of energy storage such as SuperCaps, NiMH or Li-ion batteries)
  • Battery testing
  • Testing of converters
  • Testing of electrical components such as cables, or switch ing/distribution devices, etc.
  • Use as general energy sink with energy recoveryRecovery

Features:

  • Commissioning and training included
  • Optional battery exercising and monitoring software
  • Optional battery simulation software
  • Excellent Dynamic resonse e.g. <0.5mS 10-90%
  • Built in CANBus and optional analogue, Ethernet and Profibus inputs
  • Touch screen interface
  • Seamless transition from source to sink modes
  • 2 or 4 quadrant operation
  • Grid tied energy recovery
  • Software calibration
  • Parallel operation with active current sharing
  • Reliable modular design
  • Two Year Warranty
  • European Safety Agency Approvals
  • CE Mark for LVD and EMC Regulation

The power supply units of the Heinzinger ERS and PTNer series are equipped with an energy recovery system (regenerative system - mains feedback), which allows for significant savings in operating costs at test benches. These units comply with the highest demands in terms of precision and stability. Furthermore, the integrated internal resistance controllers allow the units to be used in battery replacement applications. Energy is recovered through the "Heinzinger Energy Recovery" system, for ERS series bidirectional.  In power supply mode the unit works as a high power DC power supply. When operated in energy recovery mode, the power supply converts DC power provided by the "consumer" into AC power and feeds this back into the power grid.
