Product Summary: In certain applications the designer has to manage high circulating rms currents at high frequencies. When a large capacitance is needed in the circuit, the dissipation of heat generated becomes a concern. In such cases, Water Cooled Capacitors are ideal for the job.
Applications: AC resonant tank circuits, and as DC-Filter or Blocking capacitors found in heat stations, high kW and high frequency power supplies, and high power motor drives.
Specifications: Voltage Ratings: Typical voltage ranges from 220 to 2400 VAC and 400 to 1000 VDC. Special designs up to 3200 VAC and 1800 VDC.
Capacitor Tolerance: Standard capacitor tolerance is -0% / +15%. Tighter tolerance capacitors are available.
RMS Current: 200 to 2400 amperes RMS. Special designs up to 3000 Arms.
Frequency: Typical frequencies range between DC to 100 kHz. For special requirements, up to 450 kHz for resonant AC applications.
Dielectric Types: Low loss polypropylene film dielectrics with non-inductive extended foil construction. High current DC filters provide high capacity with self-healing properties.
Case Styles: Water Cooled capacitors are normally multi-terminal designs housed in welded non-ferrous aluminum cans. Custom terminal configurations, case sizes, and bracket locations are available. External pressure and temperature switches to prevent damage to circuit components are available.
