Applied Energetics continues to develop and expand its unique electron and ion beam technology including our Nested High Voltage Generator (NHVG). The NHVG reduces the cost and size of conventional, high voltage, DC accelerators while providing the advantages of solid-state drive. Applied Energetics proprietary NHVG technology uses oil and plastic insulation in an arrangement of nested faraday cages. Beams are produced without the requirement for sulfur hexafluoride insulation, or any other pressurised gas.
The modular, compact NHVG systems are capable of producing ion beams in excess of 3 MV and 10 mA from negative ion sources, and electron beam accelerators can range from 200kV to 1.5MV with over 5kW output power. Pulsed versions can also be built, with a recent generator output achieving over 750kW of peak power.
Applied Energetics' electron and ion beam accelerators can be used from research to production processing. Applications for this technology include radiochemistry, material processing, plasma ion implantation, medical sterilization, and x-ray imaging.
