Plasma Implantation
Plasma Ion Implantation increases the wear and corrosion life of a variety of metal (and plastic) surfaces. North Star's personnel have been pioneers in this field starting with the first metal ion plasma implants performed by Richard Adler (NSRC President) in 1983. North Star's Plasma Implantation systems include the world's first commercial system at Empire Hard Chrome in Chicago. The company supplies both complete "Turn-Key" systems, and components.
North Star is the leader in innovative plasma implantation design including highly reliable IGBT/transformer systems and high current systems which define the state of the art in conformal plasma implantation. North Star has also developed unique high current pulsed plasma sources which produce densities of 10^12/cc for both plasma implantation and other applications.
